London Fashion Week Fall 2013 RTW: Giles

Giles got all gothy.

Does anyone else remember The Last Unicorn and the Lady Amalthea she becomes when they turn her into a human girl? That’s all I could think when I saw this outfit. “I’m a unicorn! I’M A UNICORN!”

Of course, it wasn’t as simple as all that. These laser cut gold leather pieces scream of a distressed form of glam rock.

And these long fringes feel like a 1970s rhinestone cowboy…er, cowgirl.

There were quite a few outfits with this soft spotted pastel fabric that made me think of an unobtrusive 1980s couch fabric. Most of them were ghastly. This pantsuit on the right was the best of the batch.

These feel almost grunge glam with the depressing color palette, knit cap and slouchy look, but flecked with gold.

Only goth girls wear poet shirts for dresses, but would she do it with this oddly baroque pink patterning?

I’m really impressed with the laser work, but I’m afraid that it gets lost in the busyness of everything else here.

The same thing goes for these woven leather strap numbers. They’re so delicate and so expertly worked, but mixed with the other pieces they don’t stand out.

Daenerys Targaryen, I presume?

Man alive those gowns are the worst. The models look super depressed and what’s with those Cosby Kids knit hats?
